The 2024 NCAA men’s volleyball season is shaping up to be highly competitive with several teams and conferences showcasing impressive depth and talent.

Long Beach State, coming off their sixth NCAA Final Four appearance in seven seasons, has been chosen as the preseason favorite in the Big West. Players like Mason Briggs, Aidan Knipe, and Sotiris Siapanis are expected to lead the team. Hawaii, another strong contender, follows closely behind in the preseason polls. With key players like Spyros Chakas and Guillherme Voss, Hawaii is poised to make a significant impact. UC Irvine, with key player Hilir Henno, has secured the third spot in the preseason polls. Other teams in the Big West, like UC Santa Barbara, CSUN, and UC San Diego, also have notable players and are expected to contribute to a highly competitive season.

In the EIVA, Penn State stands out with an impressive 1-2 middle combination featuring Owen Rose and Toby Ezeonu. The team will face challenges with a new setter but is expected to remain a strong competitor. Princeton, Charleston, George Mason, Harvard, and NJIT are other key teams in the EIVA, each with talented players to watch this season.

The Northeast Conference also shows promise, with teams like Saint Francis, Daemen, LIU, and St. Francis Brooklyn competing. LIU was the surprise winner of the inaugural conference tournament, highlighting the unpredictability and excitement of the competition.

The NCAA Tournament for the season will feature an eight-team, single-venue format, with all matches taking place at Long Beach State. This change is a result of the SIAC being awarded an automatic bid, expanding the tournament field from seven to eight teams.

The 2024 season begins in January and will culminate with the NCAA Men’s Volleyball Championship on May 4, 2024. This season promises to be filled with high-quality volleyball, showcasing the increasing talent and competitiveness in NCAA men’s volleyball.
