The FIVB Legal Commission continues to prioritize its commitment to enhancing the credibility, transparency, and good governance within the federation. In a series of meetings conducted in a hybrid format, significant discussions were held focusing on the essential aspects of legal frameworks and regulatory updates that govern volleyball globally. The commission, under the leadership of FIVB President Dr. Ary S. Graça F°, has reiterated the importance of adhering to these principles, recognizing the progress made in governance reforms which include the introduction of term limits, Board of Administration elections, gender equality, and athlete representation.
A notable mention was made of the Commission’s efforts that have led to the FIVB’s recognition in the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF) Fourth Review of International Federation Governance, marking an improvement in its governance score. This improvement underscores the federation’s ongoing dedication to maintaining high standards of governance, transparency, and integrity.
Additionally, the European Legal Commission (ELC) held its annual plenary meeting, emphasizing the continuous effort to improve the regulatory framework and good governance within the CEV (European Volleyball Confederation). A variety of topics were discussed, including candidature checklists for the upcoming CEV General Assembly, legal perspectives on recent European Court of Justice rulings, and proposals for modifying volleyball, beach volleyball, and snow volleyball competition regulations.
