Latheef Triumphs Again as CAVA President 2024-2028!

In a significant development for volleyball in Central and South Asia, Mr. Mohamed Latheef has been re-elected as the President of the Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA) for the term 2024-2028. This re-election took place in Bangkok, Thailand, marking a pivotal moment for the association that represents 14 countries from the Central and South Asia region. Mr. Latheef’s leadership has been instrumental in the development and promotion of volleyball in these regions. Under his presidency, CAVA has seen considerable progress, including organizing numerous local and international competitions to foster the sport’s growth.

Mr. Latheef’s contributions to volleyball extend beyond administrative roles; his journey began as a passionate player, representing the Maldives National Volleyball Team at a young age and winning several titles. Transitioning from a player to a coach and eventually into leadership roles, his election as the President of the Volleyball Association of Maldives in 2016 laid the groundwork for his broader involvement in regional volleyball governance.

His re-election is a testament to his effective leadership and vision for volleyball’s future in the region. During his previous term, CAVA flourished, hosting significant events and expanding its influence in the volleyball community. Mr. Latheef’s strategic approach and dedication have been recognized on multiple occasions, highlighted by his receipt of “Asia’s Outstanding President Award” for his exemplary service and contributions to the sport.

The CAVA’s Annual General Assembly, where his re-election occurred, was a gathering of representatives from 13 National Federations along with leaders from the FIVB and Asian Volleyball Confederation. This event underscores the collaborative effort across nations to elevate volleyball’s stature and competitive excellence in Central and South Asia.

Moreover, the association has been proactive in organizing events that engage member countries and promote volleyball at various levels, including youth and senior competitions. These initiatives are crucial for developing talent and increasing volleyball’s popularity and competitiveness in the region.

Mr. Latheef’s leadership is poised to continue this momentum, with CAVA focusing on developmental programs, event organization, and enhancing volleyball’s profile across Central and South Asia. His extensive experience, both on and off the court, will undoubtedly serve CAVA well as it aims to achieve its goals and set new benchmarks in the sport of volleyball.
