History

Within the new downtown area of Markham, Ontario, Canada, the Markham Pan Am Centre serves a variety of purposes. It was built to host events such as badminton, table tennis, and water polo during the 2015 Pan American Games in nearby Toronto. The construction of the centre began on October 9, 2012, and the stadium was finally opened on November 23, 2014. An Olympic-size swimming pool was also constructed according to ISF standards at the venue. The venue was the first among all those built to host the 2015 Pan American Games.

 The City of Markham owns the Markham Pan Am Centre and has a seating capacity of 2,000 for badminton and table tennis events and 2,000 for water polo events. World-class standards have been met in the construction of the facility. It features retractable seating, a central location in Markham Centre, and is easily accessible by car, GO Transit (commuter train), and YRT/VIVA (local transit). 

After the 2015 Pan Am Games, the facility continues to be used as a community and competition centre for aquatics, badminton, volleyball, basketball, and table tennis for Markham-area residents. The Markham Pan Am Centre in Markham, Ontario, Canada was designed by B+H Architects. The 2015 Pan American Games were held in nearby Toronto in July and August of 2015, the facility was designed to host badminton, table tennis, and water polo events. Construction of the center commenced on October 9, 2012, and the stadium was officially opened on November 23, 2014. As part of the venue, an Olympic-size swimming pool was built in accordance with the International Swimming Federation’s standards.
