In a remarkable display of athletic prowess, Tahiti dominated the volleyball competitions at the 2023 Pacific Games, held from November 19 to December 2 in Honiara, Solomon Islands, securing gold medals in both the men’s and women’s categories.

The women’s volleyball team from Tahiti showcased exceptional skill and teamwork, winning all six of their matches. Their journey to victory culminated in a 3-1 win against New Caledonia, the defending champions, securing Tahiti’s eighth title in the Pacific Games and a remarkable tenth consecutive podium finish​​.

In the men’s volleyball competition, ten national teams participated, initially divided into two round-robin pools. Tahiti, as the Pool B runners-up, displayed exceptional skill throughout the tournament, reaching the final and triumphing with a decisive 3-0 victory over Papua New Guinea. This victory marked Tahiti’s fifth gold medal in the history of the Pacific Games. Papua New Guinea earned a commendable silver, their best result to date in the event, while Samoa celebrated their first podium finish in history with a bronze medal after defeating New Caledonia​​​​.

The tournament also saw notable performances from other participating teams, including New Caledonia, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Tuvalu, American Samoa, Kiribati, Solomon Islands, and Tonga​​​​​​.
